Accessible by train to Cannon Hill Station and a 7 minute walk right via Barracks Rd to the roundabout then into Southgate Ave, right into Corporate Drive and left for 10 metres into Southgate Avenue.
By Bus on Route 227 Wynnum Road, disembark at the Southgate Park , Cannon Hill.

Course Description:
Manual Handling in Healthcare
Cost and Payment terms: $60.00 per person paid in full to First Choice Care Nursing Agency 1 week prior to course date. This is invoiced through MYOB.
RSVP: 2 weeks prior to course commencement dates.

Safety Guidelines
The healthcare industry stipulates certain policies and procedures with regards to practicing safe manual handling. When you are required to undertake manual handling duties please ensure correct procedures are followed.
If the facility has a no-lift policy please use:
- Walking frames to assist with standing and/or walking
- Standing hoists for standing partial weight bearing patients
- Hoists for transferring non-weight bearing patients
- Slide sheets for moving a patient up the bed or turning a patient in bed
Please check with permanent staff if you are unsure of where the manual handling equipment is located. It is quite often policy that two assistants be present when operating manual lifting equipment.
Prohibited manual handling techniques usually include:
- Lifting a patient under the arms
- Lifting a patients whole body weight
- Pulling a patient forward under the arms
- Manually lifting a patient off the floor
- Allowing patients to place their arms around or across your back, shoulder or neck
- Pulling under a patients arm over the back of a chair to sit the patient up.
