The team at First Choice Care would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and safe new year! We would also like to thank you for your support throughout 2008, and hope that 2009 brings you every success.

Keep your availabilities up to date, as we have many shifts coming through and we need you! Remember if your circumstances change and you are no longer available, please give us a courtesy call to notify us of this change.

Once again, thank you for a great 2008, and we look forward to an even better year in 2009!

In these current uncertain economic times, you can be relieved that agency still provides a stable flow of income, a great lifestyle, and an opportunity to work where you want and when you want. At FCC we endeavour to provide you with the right shift at the right pay rate at the right time. With Christmas approaching, having a stash of cash will be important to many people, so we would encourage you to take any opportunity given by accepting shifts that have been offered to you.

For all our student nurses, we recommend that you take this opportunity to assess the hospitals that are made available to you, in order to give you an informed decision on what hospital would suit you in your graduate year, as this is probably the most important year you will do in your entire nursing career.

There are many opportunities to work at the moment, so please if you are available let us know on 1300 307 241. If you are available, please be aware that we will endeavour to provide you with shifts, so therefore please answer your phone. If circumstances arise and you need to make yourself unavailable, please notify the call centre as soon as possible.

If you are uncertain about anything, please do not hesitate to contact First Choice Care on 1300 307 24. Feel free to speak with your call centre operators, Skye Rogers in recruitment, or to myself Guy Howlett with regards to any issues.

Although we are looking for nurses in all vicinities, we are really in need of nurses around the Gold Coast and Redlands areas.

Because we know that you care about the company you work for and the way you present yourself at work, we would like to remind you how easy it is to order a First Choice Care polo shirt.

If you need a shirt please phone our Administration Staff at any time during office hours. They will post a shirt to you and can have the total amount deducted from your pay. Nice and easy!

OK, so what's not appropriate?

  • Wearing no pants at all!
  • Light coloured or patterned pants or skirts - these types of materials are not practical in the nursing field - they are prone to staining and don't quite look as professional as a navy blue or black coloured material.
  • Your favourite leather jacket and clubbing outfit - you're a professional and it's important that people see that through your presentation.

Some suggestions?

  • It's much easier to manage a standard uniform. In First Choice's experience, dark blue, navy or black pants or skirts are easy, safe, practical and effective.
  • We encourage our nurses to wear non-slip enclosed shoes to ensure their safety while at work.
  • Please remember that it is mandatory to wear your photo ID badge to each and every shift. This assists in identification and adheres to the policy of facilities.

We are not trying to lecture you but ultimately we are all partners in First Choice Care and we want to be able to assist you to present yourself professionally. If you have any other questions about the uniform at First Choice Care, please phone the Administration Staff on 1300 307 241.

Remember...we are here to help you!!!
