At First Choice Care, we want to celebrate our amazing nurses! So, we will be announcing a nurse of the month, every month. This nurse will be kind, caring and compassionate and be reliable and dedicated to our nursing agency.

Congratulations Dana O. you have been nominated as our nurse of the month for July 2022! Dana is one of our metro nurses and our allocations team all agreed that she was the most deserving of this recognition due to her flexibility and work ethic. Read why Dana became a nurse:

What do you like most about FCC?

After working full-time at my previous workplace for 10 years, I was ready for a change. FCC provides the flexibility to be able to choose where, when and how often I want to work.

Why did you want to be a nurse?

Initially, I did not want to be a nurse. I returned home from travelling overseas and needed a job. I gained employment as an AIN at a nursing home. The older RN’s that I worked with encouraged me to pursue a nursing career as an RN, and so I did. Here I am 20 years later, and still remain grateful to those nurses that supported me along the way. I love being a nurse!

What has been the highlight of working with FCC?

I enjoy being able to experience a variety of different areas of nursing and expanding on my skill set. Also, I have enjoyed meeting other FCC nurses.

Would you recommend FCC to other nurses and why?

I would definitely recommend FCC to other nurses and have done so. I have been with FCC for just over 2 months and have found the staff to be supportive and helpful. FCC fits in with your working preferences, making it easier to maintain a work-life balance. I love being able to self-roster through the online portal.
