How do I become an Agency Nurse or Midwife?

What Are Some of the Agency Nursing Opportunities?


Registered nurse and registered midwife. You need to have completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree at university. You need to have completed 12 months post grad paid experience in Australia.


Registered nurse and registered midwife (overseas). You will need a valid visa and a nursing degree at a university overseas with equivalent skill. You need to have completed 12 months paid experience in Australia.

 

Enrolled nurse. You need to have completed an 18-month or two-year VET qualification to obtain a diploma in enrolled nursing. You need to have completed 3 months full time paid experience in Australia.


Assistant nurse. You need to have completed a qualification in Health Assistance to a minimum of Certificate III. You need to have completed 200hrs paid experience in Australia.




What Are the Requirements? 


You will need:


  • A current unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • A current National Police Clearance
  • Full immunisation history
  • Two clinical references
  • A reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license
  • A resume that you can send with your application.


Some additional requirements depend on the role you are applying for:


Student nurses wanting to work as an Assistant nurse whilst undertaking study will need to provide evidence of completing two placements — one in aged care and one in hospital.
