This August, we’re celebrating Cynthia, a dedicated nurse and clinical facilitator who brings more than 30 years of nursing experience and a genuine passion for supporting the next generation of nurses.
Having worked as a facilitator for the past eight years, Cynthia finds purpose in every teaching day and values the opportunity to help students build their confidence, knowledge and clinical skills. She’s also a valued member of the First Choice Care team, where flexibility, support and a strong work-life balance help her balance her professional commitments with her lifestyle.
Finding Purpose in Every Teaching Day
When asked what she enjoys most about working with First Choice Care, Cynthia says it’s the combination of flexibility, support and the opportunity to continue doing work she finds meaningful.
“I have been working as a nurse for over 30 years and as a facilitator for eight years. I find joy and purpose in every teaching day with my students.”

Making a Difference to the Next Generation
For Cynthia, one of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing students grow throughout their clinical placements.
“Teaching students clinical practice is what I enjoy. At the end of a clinical placement with students, it is so rewarding to receive positive feedback on how their clinical placements went.”
Whether it’s a thank-you card recognising her guidance and encouragement or hearing students reflect on the confidence and skills they’ve developed, these moments are a meaningful reminder of the impact experienced nurses can have on those entering the profession.
Advice for a Long and Rewarding Career
With more than three decades of nursing experience, Cynthia has learned the importance of looking after yourself while continuing to grow professionally.
Her advice to other nurses is simple: make self-care and personal boundaries a priority.
“You cannot pour from an empty cup.”
She also encourages nurses to ask questions, stay involved and embrace new opportunities that can support their professional growth.
